My mum's an artist. She paints beautiful pictures and she teaches people to draw. My dad works in a big bank, but he sometimes works at home. He helps people with their money. My uncle has a really cool job. He's a musician – he plays the guitar in a band. 

My big brother is a student. He wants to be a vet one day because he loves animals. My little sister wants to be a firefighter when she's older. When I grow up, I want to be a pilot because I love aeroplanes and I want to travel to lots of different countries.

Top tips

  1. Write a before the job if it starts with a consonant: he's a musician (not he's musician).
  2. Write an before the job if it starts with a vowel: she's an artist (not she's artist).
  3. You can say my sister is a … or my sister's a … 
  4. Remember the 's' or 'es' for he or she: my dad works …. or she teaches ...
  5. You can say when I'm older, when I grow up or one day … to write about the future.
  6. Write because to say why you want to do something: I want to be a pilot because …
