LELAND: Yes, Mr Elmo.
ELMO: Do you have to stay clean in space?
LELAND: You have to stay clean. You don’t want to be funky in space, right, Elmo?
ELMO: Well, Oscar would be funky in space. He would. He’d like that.
LELAND: He would like that?
ELMO: Yeah. How do you take a bath in space?
LELAND: Well, in space you don’t have a bathtub. You don’t have a shower.
ELMO: No?
LELAND: So you must take sponge baths.
ELMO: Sponge baths?
LELAND: Yeah, like this little thing right here. This is a towel. Look at that.
ELMO: That’s not a towel.
LELAND: Well, it is.
ELMO: Well, how could it be?
LELAND: Just add water. Watch. Oops. Look, it’s growing. Uh oh. Look at that.
ELMO: Look at that!
LELAND: It’s growing. It’s like a Chia pet.
ELMO: But it still doesn’t look like a washcloth.
LELAND: And then you unroll it, like that, and then you pull it apart. And you can actually take a shower with it, a bath with it. So you wash your face.
ELMO: Really?
LELAND: Wash your underarms, wash your chest, wash your neck, wash your head.
ELMO: Well, Mr Leland, how do you brush your teeth?
LELAND: Brushing your teeth in space?
ELMO: Yeah.
LELAND: Very careful. So same toothbrush, same toothpaste. Put it on. Brush, brush, brush, brush, brush. But instead of spitting it out, you don’t have a sink to spit it out in.
ELMO: So what do you do?
LELAND: So, you take a washcloth and you go … You spit it in there and then you fold it up.
ELMO: Mr Leland?
LELAND: Yes?
ELMO: That’s disgusting.
LELAND: I know, but it’s space.
ELMO: That’s the way you have to do it?
LELAND: That’s how you have to do it, Elmo.
ELMO: Well, Elmo loves brushing his teeth, but Elmo definitely loves spitting it out.
LELAND: You don’t like spitting it out?
ELMO: Elmo loves spitting it out.
LELAND: Oh, you like to spit it out.
ELMO: Yes, it’s very important.
LELAND: Well, here you go. Ready?
ELMO: No, no, no. Mr Leland, thank you for teaching Elmo about how you keep clean in space.
