Presenter: OK. Next up, people all over the world are getting ready to celebrate Diwali, also known as the Hindu Festival of Lights. Now, Emma Louise has been to visit Arrian and Ariya and their mum, Renu, to help them do some Diwali crafting.

Emma Louise: Hi, guys.

Arrian, Ariya and Renu: Hi.

Emma Louise: I can see you're getting ready for Diwali. What is it?

Ariya: Diwali is about good over evil.

Arrian: And it's a celebration of light.

Emma Louise: It looks like you guys are getting a craft ready. What were you making?

Ariya: We were making marigolds.

Renu: All we are doing, we are folding them back and forth like this. And that gives it this effect. You can use string, but this is also really easy. Whatever you've got in the house. So just tie a knot. Well done. Is that nice and tight, Ariya? Yeah? Good.

Ariya: Take one layer carefully and, to lift it up, you …

Emma Louise: OK. So you open it out. So that's how you got to this, is it? Why is it important to decorate your house for Diwali?

Renu: I think it's because it's a colourful celebration. We decorate the house and we put little candles around the house – little diyas, we call them – and decorate our house with colourful garlands. We dress up and we have the house all lit.

Emma Louise: What else will you do to celebrate?

Renu: As a family we would get together. We pray in our house to bless our house, and then we would then go to our family and friends and do the same there. And it normally involves a lot of food. So a big feast on the table and, you know, and lots of nice food where we'd all get together and eat and, and then after that, with your full bellies, you go into the garden and you go and do fireworks.

Emma Louise: Ariya, what else do you like about Diwali?

Ariya: I like to make crafts and I made these lanterns that turned out really good. I like to give people crafts as well.

Emma Louise: So you give them to people as presents. Oh, that's nice. What about you, Arrian?

Arrian: Um, I like giving and receiving presents.

Renu: So once there's lots, we just place them on a ribbon and you can keep it as a garland or you can just keep them in a tray, so it's really easy.

Ariya: And this is our marigold garland.

Emma Louise: It looks amazing. Thanks for having us. Happy Diwali.

Ariya and Arrian: Happy Diwali!
