My name is Sevindzh. I live in Ukraine, but my motherland is Azerbaijan. I want to tell you about traditions and customs of my native land. The people mark a lot of holidays in Azerbaijan. One of my favourite is the Holiday of Novruz. It goes for four weeks. Every Tuesday is a holiday of Water, Fire, Wind and Earth. We see spring in. The main day is the 21-st of March. On this day we cook plov, stuffed cabbages, and meat covered by the leaves of vine, different salads and the dessert: shakarbura and pakhlava (these dishes are very sweet and delicious). It is necessary to grow some semeni (wheat) by the holiday. The semeni determines how good harvest the people will have. Also we clean our home. On the table there must be a candle. We paint eggs and decorate all the table with the semeni. Then we go out, make a fire and jump over it. We put a hat in front of the neighbours’ door and hide ourselves. The hostess should put some sweets into the hat. Then we take the hat with sweets and go to the other neighbours. It is very funny and tasty. I like this holiday very much.

Hi HappySapphire90, I agree with you about Vietnam's food. Yummy! Uniforms actually are good, as they reduce the competition in fashion amongst the students, and you also don't have to waste time picking out your clothing when you are rushing to school. The only problem with uniforms is that they can get really uncomfortable sometimes. Like mine - I'm in Singapore, but my uniform has two layers, and the pinafore is black! Really, really hot.

The Dancing Princesses (Billy’s version)
There was a king who had twelve beautiful daughters. They slept in twelve beds all in one room. The King saw the princesses’ shoes were broken. He made it known to all the land that whoever could find out where the princesses dance could marry one of the princesses.
After two days, a soldier went to the kingdom. He said to the king: “I can find out where the princesses dance.” The king said: “Are you sure you can?” The soldier said: “Yes. I can.” The king was very surprised. “You must be very careful. If you can’t find out where the princesses dance, I will cut off your head.” The soldier said: “Nonsense. I don’t believe you can cut off my head. I am a strong soldier, you know.”
The King was very angry, he said: “Guards, cut off his head.” “Go ahead.” said the soldier. After a while, the soldier’s head fell to the floor.
In the next ten years, nobody came to the king’s kingdom, not to say to find out where the princesses dance. Two more years passed, a three-year-old child came to the kingdom. He said to the king: “Hello, King. I know your daughters go to dance every evening. I can find out where they dance.” “Ha-ha-ha-ha,” The king laughed, “You are so small. I am sure you can’t do it.”
The child said: “You must believe me.” The king said: “Sure. You can try.”
In the evening, the little child went to the princesses’ room. He stood outside the door. He left the door open. He saw the princesses were having dinner. After dinner, they went into a tunnel, one by one. When the princesses all had gone into the tunnel, the child went into their room. Suddenly, the tunnel door closed. The little child thought there must be a code. He started to find out the code.
After five minutes, he found a strange code. They were some numbers. The child soon broke the code and the door opened. The child went down the tunnel carefully.
There was another door, but the door was open. The child ran out of the door. The child saw a beautiful tower. He saw the princesses dancing in the tower.
The child closed the door, so the princesses could never go back to their father’s kingdom. The child grew up in the tower. He became the king of the tower, and the twelve princesses all became his wives.
They lived happily in the tower for three thousand years.

Hello. I’m Billy. I am 9 years old. I live with my dad and my mum in China. I’m going to tell you about my dad and my mum.

In a magical land, there was a house that was home to a girl named Soso and her brother, Uouo.
One day, Uouo was ready to go riding bycycle. Soso was playing her volleyball. It was a red one. The volley was Soso's most favorite toy in the whole world. She was not careful with it . She threw it so far that it went into the river. She was very sad.
She ran to her brother, Uoso, and said:"Can you help me find my volleyball in the river."
Uouo said:"OK."
Soso was very happy. Uouo wearing a swim suit, jump into the river. After a while, Uouo got out of water,. He said, "I can't find your volleyball."
Soso said, "Hmph, you are so bad at swimming."
Uouo said, "I didn't wear goggles". So he put on his goggles and jumped into water again. But when he got out of water, he still couldn't find the ball.
Soso was so disappointed that she began to cry. Uouo said: "Don't worry. I have an idea. I can find a superman to help you. He can fly, swim, and jump high up. He has a wing."
Soso said:"Wow. I can't believe it. Can you ask him to help me?" Uouo said:"Of Course!"
So Uouo rode his bicycle to find the superman. He went to a very dangerous place. The superman was there playing football. Uouo went to him and said: "Hello, Superman. May I have your name?"
The superman said, "My name is Billy."
Uouo said: "Can you help my sister Soso find her volleyball in the river."
Billy said: " No Problem." Uouo, "Thank you very much."
So Billy and Uouo ride bicycle to the river. Soso saw Uouo find the Superman. She was very happy. Billy Jumped into the river. Suddenly, Billy got out water. He had a volleyball. Soso run to Billy and caught the volleyball.
Uouo said to Billy: "Thank you for helping my sister."
Billy said: "You're welcome. If you need help. Just shout BILLY THE SUPERMAN three times, and I will come to help you."

There was once a foolish man who was tricked all the time. He would go to village to village and get tricked all the time. People lied to him because they wanted so much. People ask for his clothes, his shoes, his hat, his food, his water, and all his belongs. All he said was "Yes". When he went to the woods he was naked and had nothing. His belongings were gone and even his blanket. He was cold and afraid. A goblin approached him and said " May I have your body to eat ?" He said "Yes". The goblin ate his legs, his body, his hands, his arms, and last the goblin popped both of his eyes out to eat, The goblin said " Thank you for that wonderful meal. I do not have anything but, I will give you this piece of paper with words on it". "Thank you" said the foolish man. "Nobody have never gave me a gift." The man with just his head was crying and died.

It wanted to be a respected cat, because the other cats laughed when the little cat can't eat, catch a mouse or other thing what the cats usually do easy. The other cats didn't understand that Misura is a cat like them. One day, Misura go out from the City of the Cats. It went to another country, with little cats, like it. And it found one. That country was called The City of the Little cats. There the food was easier to eat by the little cats. The strangest thing is tha Misura was the biggest cat from that city. Because that, it became the president of the city. After that, The City of the Cats and The City of the Little Cats had a meeting. But the president of The City of the Cats was shocked, because Misura was a president. And like that, Misura became a respected cat.

The Bad Witch
Once upon a time a young couple had a beautiful baby, but a witch envied them. One day the witch dressed up like a hairdresser and went to the couple's house.
She asked the woman, "Do you want me to do your hair?"
"Yes please!" said the woman.
When the witch finished, she stuck a black pin on the woman's head and the woman turned into a crow and the witch dressed up like her.
A few days later the man went into the forest to hunt and he caught the crow and picked up the pin.His wife appeared and talked to him about the witch. An hour later the witch was arrested and the couple could bring up their baby nicely.

The Stonebreaker
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country
One day in a far away village lived a stonebreaker that broke a lot of stones every day. One day a witch saw that the stonebreaker was unhappy with his job and so she decided to help. She asked him what he wanted to be. The stonebreaker said that he wanted to be richer …and he became richer.
The next day he wanted to be the richest man ….and he became even richer still.
He was very happy with his new life until …..One day it was very sunny and suddenly he couldn’t help it and he became a sun. When he was a sun, a cloud went in front of the sun and he became a cloud. The cloud started to rain and drop water and everyone ran into their houses. But the stone that was lying there couldn’t move to get out of the rain and he was turned into a stone.
The next day, when he was a stone, a stone breaker came to break that stone and he thought to himself, “The stonebreaker’s job is the best job of all” and he became a stonebreaker again for the rest of his life.

Patxi the Blacksmith
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country.
Once upon a time there was a blacksmith called Patxi in Mount Aralar. Hell decided to take Patxi away and so they sent a demon called Zart. He arrived at Patxi’s house they had breakfast together. When Zart wanted to stand up, he couldn’t; he was glued to the chair. He was stuck to the chair for three years. Then Patxi set fire to the glue and Zart went running quickly to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent another demon called Axut. Zart called out to Axut “If he asks you to sit down, don’t!”
“Okay, thanks.” said Axut.
Axut found Patxi the blacksmith. They had breakfast and Patxi asked him to sit down.
“No thanks. I don’t need to sit down,” said Axut.
“Fine, but I think you need to lie down,” answered Patxi.
“Alright”, said Axut and he lay down on the bed. A few minutes later Patxi spoke to the demon Axut. “I’m ready to go, are you?” But Axut was glued to the bed and he was stuck to the bed for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell and told everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent the last demon, Gatz. The other two demons, Zart and Axut, said, “If he asks you to sit down or lie down, don’t.”
The last demon found Patxi. Patxi asked him if he wanted to sit down or lie down but Gatz replied that he didn’t.
“Fine,” said Patxi. ”Would you like some apples from the tree?”
“Yes, please.”
Gatz the demon went to the tree and was glued to the tree. He was stuck to the tree for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Years later, Patxi died. After he died he went to hell, but when the demons saw who was coming they closed the doors and Patxi did not enter hell.

Once upon a time, in Holland, a prince, very rich prince, wanted to marry a princess who was very beautiful and very smart and very discerning. And very rich, too! He galloped all around his country, but there was no princess had all of these terms. He was sad very much, and his parents were very worried, too.
One day, when all of people in prince's palace, there was a very very heavy storm. A girl knocked at the door. The King opened the door.
- Who are you? - The King asked.
- I am a princess. I am the princess who your prince wanted.

Once upon a time, there was a cat, called Misura. It was very, very little and it couldn't do anything, because its hands were too little. It wanted to be a respected cat, because the other cats laughed when the little cat can't eat, catch a mouse or other thing what the cats usually do easy. The other cats didn't understand that Misura is a cat like them. One day, Misura go out from the City of the Cats. It went to another country, with little cats, like it. And it found one. That country was called The City of the Little cats. There the food was easier to eat by the little cats. The strangest thing is tha Misura was the biggest cat from that city. Because that, it became the president of the city. After that, The City of the Cats and The City of the Little Cats had a meeting. But the president of The City of the Cats was shocked, because Misura was a president. And like that, Misura became a respected cat.

Once upon a time a young couple had a beautiful baby, but a witch envied them. One day the witch dressed up like a hairdresser and went to the couple's house.

"Yes please!" said the woman.
When the witch finished, she stuck a black pin on the woman's head and the woman turned into a crow and the witch dressed up like her.
A few days later the man went into the forest to hunt and he caught the crow and picked up the pin.His wife appeared and talked to him about the witch. An hour later the witch was arrested and the couple could bring up their baby nicely.

The Stonebreaker
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country
One day in a far away village lived a stonebreaker that broke a lot of stones every day. One day a witch saw that the stonebreaker was unhappy with his job and so she decided to help. She asked him what he wanted to be. The stonebreaker said that he wanted to be richer …and he became richer.
The next day he wanted to be the richest man ….and he became even richer still.
He was very happy with his new life until …..One day it was very sunny and suddenly he couldn’t help it and he became a sun. When he was a sun, a cloud went in front of the sun and he became a cloud. The cloud started to rain and drop water and everyone ran into their houses. But the stone that was lying there couldn’t move to get out of the rain and he was turned into a stone.
The next day, when he was a stone, a stone breaker came to break that stone and he thought to himself, “The stonebreaker’s job is the best job of all” and he became a stonebreaker again for the rest of his life.

Patxi the Blacksmith
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country.
Once upon a time there was a blacksmith called Patxi in Mount Aralar. Hell decided to take Patxi away and so they sent a demon called Zart. He arrived at Patxi’s house they had breakfast together. When Zart wanted to stand up, he couldn’t; he was glued to the chair. He was stuck to the chair for three years. Then Patxi set fire to the glue and Zart went running quickly to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent another demon called Axut. Zart called out to Axut “If he asks you to sit down, don’t!”
“Okay, thanks.” said Axut.
Axut found Patxi the blacksmith. They had breakfast and Patxi asked him to sit down.
“No thanks. I don’t need to sit down,” said Axut.
“Fine, but I think you need to lie down,” answered Patxi.
“Alright”, said Axut and he lay down on the bed. A few minutes later Patxi spoke to the demon Axut. “I’m ready to go, are you?” But Axut was glued to the bed and he was stuck to the bed for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell and told everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent the last demon, Gatz. The other two demons, Zart and Axut, said, “If he asks you to sit down or lie down, don’t.”
The last demon found Patxi. Patxi asked him if he wanted to sit down or lie down but Gatz replied that he didn’t.
“Fine,” said Patxi. ”Would you like some apples from the tree?”
“Yes, please.”
Gatz the demon went to the tree and was glued to the tree. He was stuck to the tree for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Years later, Patxi died. After he died he went to hell, but when the demons saw who was coming they closed the doors and Patxi did not enter hell.

Once upon a time, in Holland, a prince, very rich prince, wanted to marry a princess who was very beautiful and very smart and very discerning. And very rich, too! He galloped all around his country, but there was no princess had all of these terms. He was sad very much, and his parents were very worried, too.
One day, when all of people in prince's palace, there was a very very heavy storm. A girl knocked at the door. The King opened the door.
- Who are you? - The King asked.
- I am a princess. I am the princess who your prince wanted.
- Ok. Come in.
The King and the princess came into the palace. The Queen put a pea under twenty cushions. It is the bed of the Princess. She thanked them and went to bed.
Next morning, in the breakfast, the Queen asked the princess:
- Princess, did you sleep soundly?
- Oh, I couldn't sleep because under my bed, there was a small stone hurt me.
The Queen nodded. She was the most discerning princess she ever seen. The prince also like her because she was the most beautiful princess he ever seen.
After the breakfast, the prince tested her. He wrote on the paper two math problems:
15 minutes later, the princess had done. Now, the prince believe her and married her. After that, they lived very happy.
T hen the prince was King, and the princess was Queen, the prince and his soldier fighted the agrressors, the princess manage her country very good. The prince had won, the princess was very happy.
