I made this lantern with my mum - it was lots of fun and quite easy. Just remember to make the cut lines long enough and add a handle. I'm taking mine to school to show my friends. Please post other ideas as I love making things.
My brother and I loved making the red Chinese lantern. We have learnt how to say Happy new year in Chinese: Kiung Hi Fat Chhoi, which loosely translates to "Congratulations and be prosperous".
